Vaporesso GTX One, setting up an MTL or RDL draw
Under the Vaporesso GTX One name, the brand actually sells two kits. The first, launched in 2020, pairs a 2000 mAh box with the GTX Tank 18. The second, sold as the GTX One Pro, keeps the 40 watt ceiling but changes the battery, the screen and the tank. Shop listings often blur the two. For the draw, though, the distinction matters, because the coils in the box are not the same and the band quoted for one and the same coil has shifted.
What kind of draw the Vaporesso GTX One gives
The Vaporesso GTX One is first and foremost a mouth-to-lung (MTL) kit, the tight draw where vapour is held in the mouth before it is inhaled. Fitted with the 1.2 ohm GTX coil at around 10 watts, it delivers the most restricted draw the kit can offer.
The 0.8 ohm coil, fitted as standard on the original model, loosens the draw a little. It stays in airy MTL territory, and it can drift towards a light restricted direct lung (RDL) draw if the airflow is opened further.
The GTX One Pro moves further in that direction. It arrives with a pre-installed 0.6 ohm coil rated for 20 to 26 watts, which aims squarely at RDL, and keeps the 1.2 ohm in the box for a tight draw. Our guide to DTL and RDL vaping explains how the two styles differ.
Neither kit is built for a fully open direct lung draw. The list of compatible coils Vaporesso publishes for the Pro stops at 0.4 ohm, and the box tops out at 40 watts.
Vaporesso GTX One and GTX One Pro, two generations under one name
Both boxes share the same 5 to 40 watt output and the same USB-C charging at 5 volts and 2 amps. Almost everything else has changed, from the size to the battery. The table brings together the manufacturer’s figures, with the reviews published at launch filling in the original model.
| Specification | GTX One | GTX One Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in battery | 2000 mAh | 3000 mAh |
| Output | 5 to 40 W | 5 to 40 W |
| Screen | 0.69 inch OLED | 0.87 inch OLED |
| Tank supplied | GTX Tank 18 | XTank T |
| UK tank capacity | 2 ml glass tube in the box | 2 ml TPD version |
| Coils supplied | GTX mesh 0.8 ohm (fitted) and 1.2 ohm | GTX mesh 0.6 ohm (fitted) and 1.2 ohm |
| Quoted dimensions | 127.5 x 29.3 x 22.7 mm | 137.25 x 23.2 x 30.05 mm |
| Modes | wattage, voltage, Smart | Smart, Eco, Pulse |
The bigger battery is what catches the eye, but for the draw the line that matters is the one listing the coils. Moving from a pre-installed 0.8 ohm to a 0.6 ohm shifts the starting point of the kit, from an airy MTL towards an RDL.
Vaporesso’s specification also gives the Pro a dedicated lock button and a puff counter in its menu, and puts its weight at 140 grams.
GTX coils on the Vaporesso GTX One, band by band
The GTX coil range fits both tanks, but not every value suits them equally. The wattage bands Vaporesso publishes set the frame for the adjustment, and they have moved slightly from one kit to the next.
The values that suit the XTank T
For the GTX One Pro, Vaporesso lists four compatible mesh coils, each with a rated band and a suggested wattage.
| GTX mesh coil | Rated band | Suggested wattage | Draw it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 ohm | 26 to 32 W | 30 W | open RDL |
| 0.6 ohm (supplied, fitted) | 20 to 26 W | 24 W | RDL |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 16 W | 16 W | airy MTL |
| 1.2 ohm (supplied) | 8 to 12 W | 11 W | tight MTL |
The lower GTX values, designed for high-power direct lung vaping, do not appear on that list.
One 0.8 ohm coil, two published bands
The listing for the original GTX One on Vaporesso’s French store rates the 0.8 ohm GTX coil at 12 to 20 watts and the 1.2 ohm at 7 to 11 watts. On the brand’s international site, the GTX One Pro page narrows the 0.8 ohm to 12 to 16 watts and moves the 1.2 ohm to 8 to 12 watts.
These coils carry the same name and belong to the same range. Vaporesso does not explain the gap, but the practical consequence is simple. With a 0.8 ohm coil, staying at 16 watts or below satisfies both listings at once, on an original GTX One as well as on the Pro.
Setting the airflow on the Vaporesso GTX One
On both tanks the airflow is adjusted with a ring. The order of adjustment matters more than where that ring sits. Choose the coil first, set the power near the bottom of its band, then open the air until the draw feels free.
With the 1.2 ohm, an almost closed airflow gives the tightest draw the kit can manage, the one that suits a classic mouth-to-lung style. Our guide to MTL vaping describes that draw in detail.
With the 0.6 ohm of the Pro, the air needs to open noticeably further. At 24 watts, a ring that is too closed lets heat build up, and the vapour turns hot and dry on the throat.
Two signals guide the adjustment. Air whistling through with little vapour means the opening is too wide for the wattage. A hot puff, on the other hand, calls for a little more air or a few watts less.
Power modes, from the original to the Pro
The original Vaporesso GTX One box offers three modes, variable wattage, variable voltage and a Smart mode that suggests a wattage from the coil it detects. Variable wattage gives the finest control over the draw.
Built around the AXON chip, the GTX One Pro renames its modes Smart, Eco and Pulse. Instruction pages published by retailers describe Eco as manual wattage control, and Vaporesso presents Pulse as a stable output from the first puff to the last.
Smart mode is a sound starting point. Fine-tune by hand from there, a step at a time, inside the coil’s band, and treat the top of that band as a limit rather than a target. Our guide to coil resistance sets out the reasoning behind each ohm value.
Tank capacity in the UK
Both tanks of the Vaporesso GTX One range are quoted at 3 ml in the global specifications. Refillable tanks sold in the UK are capped at 2 ml, which is why the XTank T exists in a 2 ml TPD version and why the original GTX One box included a spare 2 ml glass tube.
A listing that quotes 3 ml describes the version made for other markets. The TPD marking on the box settles which one you have.
Capacity also has a practical effect on the draw. A 2 ml tank empties faster with the 0.6 ohm at 24 watts than with the 1.2 ohm at 11 watts, because the volume of liquid vaporised follows the power.
FAQ
A few questions that come up around the kit, beyond setting the draw itself.
Which e-liquid suits the Vaporesso GTX One?
With the 1.2 ohm coil and a tight draw, a balanced e-liquid of around 50 per cent propylene glycol and 50 per cent vegetable glycerine feeds the cotton well at low power. Thicker, higher-VG liquids are better matched to the 0.6 ohm. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is limited to 20 mg/ml and 10 ml bottles. These pointers reflect common practice, not a manufacturer instruction.
Which tank can go on the GTX One box?
The kit ships with its GTX Tank 18, but the box takes other tanks up to 22 mm in diameter, according to the review Vaping Post published at launch. An MTL or RDL tank that works below 40 watts is the sensible choice, in its 2 ml UK version.
Should a new GTX coil rest before the first puff?
Yes. After filling, give the cotton a few minutes to soak, around five according to one retailer’s instructions, then start at low power. A dry coil scorches its cotton within the first few puffs.
How do you switch on and lock the GTX One Pro?
Five quick presses on the fire button switch the box on or off, and three presses open the menu. A Lock button on the side blocks the device against accidental presses in a pocket or a bag.
Does Smart mode work with every coil?
No. Smart mode on the GTX One Pro recognises Vaporesso’s own GTX coils and applies their suggested wattage. With any other coil, fitted in a third-party tank, set the power by hand in Eco mode.
Getting the draw right on the Vaporesso GTX One
Both generations of the Vaporesso GTX One are set up the same way. The coil decides the style of draw, the power sits inside the published band, and the airflow opens last. On the Pro, the 0.6 ohm is the RDL value, while the 1.2 ohm remains the tight MTL one.
Between the two manufacturer listings, taking the more cautious band avoids unpleasant surprises, especially with the 0.8 ohm. Set up with care, the Vaporesso GTX One makes a point that runs through all of Inhale Zone, comfort in vaping comes from the way you inhale far more than from the power on the screen.
